Follow the Leader is a really simple game. There aren't really any rules besides just following the leader.
Wherever he walks, you walk. Whatever he does, you do. It's so simple.
I feel like Christianity is similar to this... Jesus doesn't say "follow all these rules and say the right things at the right time."
He just says "follow me and do what I do."
We seems to view it as more of a trivia game where you get points if you know the right answers and lose points if you get one wrong.
If life were according to the point system, nobody would ever have positive points...
Thank God we just need to follow and not be perfect.
When you're following the person leading you, sometimes you might fall behind or mess up a little bit, but then all you need to do it catch up and get back on track.
God is known as our Lord, meaning our master, leader, shepherd. If we follow him the way we can play this child's game, I doubt we'd be as discouraged as we are in our spiritual walks. (Well, I can only speak for myself.)
A quote from one of my professors, Bill Dogterom:
Salvation is not an event - it is a journey.
Jesus doesn't say "get saved," he says "follow me"
